Our Junior Association offers so many opportunities to young people today. Any junior who is showing or raising Hereford cattle is welcome to join the OBJHA. We would love any new members and offer them the "family" atmosphere that is our junior association. Throughout the many years I have been involved in our association I have developed my cattle showing and raising abilities, served in several leadership positions and I can say that it truly has changed my life. The relationships I have built through our association are definitely affecting the rest of my life. Every junior should have these opportunities and our Association is the place for them to happen. Please encourage every junior purchasing Hereford calves this year to look into the OBJHA.
In 2007 the OBJHA implemented a rotating advisor system where two advisors serve four year terms. The two terms are staggered so that every two years a new advisor is elected while keeping one “experienced” advisor. This was created to help ease the transition to new advisors. Advisors may re-apply at the conclusion of their term and be elected again for another four year term. Connie Shaw’s term is up this year, and the juniors are seeking anyone who is interested in serving as an advisor for a four year position. Applicants should send a letter of interest to BHA President Jerry Flatter prior to the annual junior meeting at the Ohio State Fair on July 28, 2009.
