The Buckeye Hereford Association, an incorporated nonprofit organization of 155 enthusiastic Hereford Breeders from Ohio and surrounding states, banded together to improve and promote these popular beef cattle for the benefit of the breed in general and the profit potential of its members in particular. Since 1942 the BPHA (now BHA), long considered a leader and an innovator in the industry, has faithfully represented and completely served its membership.
1. SERVICE...
A Secretary, bonded and highly qualified to carry out the responsibilities
and goals of the officers, directors, and members of the Buckeye Hereford
Association. She is ready to help and advise you with your Hereford
operation.
2. REPRESENTATION...
The Buckeye Hereford Association represents you in the following organizations:
Ohio Cattleman's Association, State Fair Board, Extension service, American
Hereford Association and interbreed, Ohio Beef Expo, Ohio Bull Test.
3. PROMOTION...
A bimonthly magazine, Trends, that contains current events,
activities, advertising and articles of interest to Hereford Breeders.
The biannual Buckeye Directory promoting all members herds and having
national distribution plus Junior and Senior field days, workshops, clinics,
Ohio State Futurity Show, District Shows, State Fair Booth, National advertising,
the Queen and Princess contest are ways that we try to promote Herefords
and help the 4-H and FFA Clubs.
4. SALES...
We try to make available different types of sales by which you may
merchandise your cattle depending on the type of operation you run.
The different types are: Show and Sale, consignment, cow-calf and a club
calf sale. The opportunity to publish your sale catalog in the Trends,
benefiting from reasonable rates, experienced design and set up, and valuable
addressing and mailing service.
5. SALES SERVICE...
Experienced sales management services for you production sales less
costly than other firms. Continually updating the Trends
mailing list to help the advertisers reach potential buyers.
6. MEMBERSHIP...
We provide to all our members: reduced Trends advertising rates
with even greater reduction in contract advertising, a copy of each Trends
and Buckeye Managed Sale catalogs. Participate in most BHA-Sponsored
Shows, Sales and other events. An opportunity to become an intricate
part of the nation's most stable beef cattle breed. The Association
also provides a scholarship to an outstanding agriculture student at Ohio
State University each year. Social activities include membership
meetings, banquets, hospitality hours, State Fair activities, field days,
workshops and clinics. Members have voting privilege, hold office,
serve on committees, participated in all activities and are the only ones
entitled to sell cattle in Buckeye Sales.
We need the active membership of every Hereford Breeder to develop and promote the potential of the Greatest Beef Breed in America.
